From Overwhelmed and Firefighting to Greater Clarity and Control at Infinity Gym

Meet Warren and Libby, Infinity Gym

Warren and Libby run Infinity Gym in Stockton-on-Tees.

Like many people who enter the fitness industry, their original motivation was simple: they wanted to help people.

But as Infinity Gym grew, running the business brought challenges they hadn’t expected.

The pressure was building, the stress was overwhelming, and they reached a point where they questioned whether continuing the business was even worth it.

That was when they spoke to Nicky and explained what was happening.

The Challenge

Before working with FBDA, Warren and Libby found themselves dealing with problems as they appeared rather than having a clear long-term direction for the business.

As business owners, they describe themselves as constantly operating like “a firefighter”.

They had worked with different business coaches and mentors before, but their experience with Nicky felt different.

Previous support often focused on giving them systems and then leaving them to figure out how to implement them within Infinity Gym.

With Nicky, the starting point was different.

He wanted to understand what was actually happening inside their business.

Looking at the Business Behind the Gym

One of the biggest differences Warren and Libby noticed was Nicky’s focus on the data.

Rather than simply handing them another system, he started asking questions.

What were they doing with particular areas of the business?

What did the numbers show?

Where was the business actually heading?

And if their answers weren’t clear enough, Nicky would stop and dig deeper.

That process highlighted something important: Infinity Gym needed a clearer vision for where the business was going.

The Optic Sheets helped create that clarity.

Instead of their plans simply existing as ideas, they began putting things down in black and white and having somebody there to hold them accountable to what they had agreed.

From Firefighting to Understanding the Fundamentals

The changes Warren and Libby describe aren’t about one dramatic revenue figure or overnight transformation.

They’re about building stronger foundations.

Where previously they felt like they were constantly firefighting, they are now starting to approach the business differently.

Their coaching calls have greater structure. There are clear actions to complete, and they are developing a better understanding of the fundamentals required to move Infinity Gym forward.

For Warren and Libby, that has meant:

  • Creating a clearer vision for the future of Infinity Gym.
  • Looking more closely at the data behind the business.
  • Using the Optic Sheets to understand areas they hadn’t previously worked through.
  • Putting plans and targets down in black and white.
  • Having greater accountability around agreed actions.
  • Moving away from constantly reacting to problems.
  • Developing a stronger understanding of the fundamentals needed to build a profitable business.

A Different Experience of Business Coaching

Having worked with other coaches previously, Warren and Libby already knew that access to systems alone wasn’t necessarily enough.

What stood out with FBDA was the willingness to look more closely at what was happening inside Infinity Gym.

Rather than assuming they had the answers, Nicky challenged them when something wasn’t clear.

That meant identifying areas that needed work instead of simply moving on to the next topic.

It was a more involved approach — one focused on helping them understand the business rather than simply telling them what systems to use.

Building a Business With Direction

Warren and Libby originally got into the industry because they wanted to help people.

The long-term business vision wasn’t necessarily there from the beginning.

Now, there is something more concrete to work towards.

“There's something written down, it's, it's in black and white, and you've got somebody to keep you accountable to that.”

Instead of simply reacting to whatever challenge appears next, they are developing the structure and understanding needed to make more considered decisions about Infinity Gym’s future.

What Warren and Libby Would Say to Other Fitness Business Owners

Their advice to another fitness business owner considering coaching is straightforward:

“Do it. Yeah. Don't take as long as what we took.”

Having worked with other coaches, Warren and Libby understand why someone might hesitate.

But they also believe a previous experience shouldn’t automatically determine what happens next.

Their advice is to at least have the conversation and find out whether the support could be right for you.

As they put it:

“A good coach needs a good coach.”
