Meet Chris, Owner of Athletic Development Club
Seven years ago, Chris Varnavas started his business journey in his parents’ garage.
Even then, he had a clear ambition: to one day have a facility of his own, where he could work with both the general public and professional athletes.
Today, Chris owns Athletic Development Club (ADC) and has achieved that long-held goal of having a facility he can call his own.
“The goal from day one was to always have my own facility with not only the general public, but also professional athletes as well.”
The Challenge
The journey from a parents’ garage to a dedicated facility wasn’t straightforward.
Over the next seven years, Chris operated from several locations run by other business owners.
As ADC grew, Chris repeatedly found the business was outgrowing the space it operated from.
Eventually, he reached a point where he knew the next step had to be different.
Rather than moving into another space controlled by somebody else, Chris decided it was time to pursue his original goal: his own facility, with the freedom to build the community he wanted around it.
Why Chris Chose FBDA
Chris first met Nicky Sehgal and began his relationship with FBDA when his journey started seven years ago.
As the business developed and new challenges arose, having ongoing access to Nicky and the FBDA team became an important source of support.
For Chris, that has been particularly valuable during the more difficult and sometimes isolating moments of business ownership.
“Working with Nicky and FBDA has been crucial.”
He knows that when an issue or obstacle arises, he has someone to turn to for support and guidance, rather than having to work through every decision alone.
What Changed
Chris ultimately decided to move away from operating in other people’s locations and establish a facility of his own.
It was a major milestone in a journey that had begun seven years earlier in his parents’ garage.
Having his own space also gave Chris the opportunity to focus on something that had been important to him throughout: creating a genuine community feel around ADC.
The Results
Chris’s journey has seen him:
- Progress from starting in his parents’ garage to owning his own facility.
- Move beyond relying on locations run by other business owners.
- Create a space where he can build the community feel he wanted for ADC.
- Continue pursuing his goal of working with both the general public and professional athletes.
- Gain ongoing business support and guidance when challenges arise.
- Join FBDA’s 7 Figure Business Mastermind, surrounding himself with other like-minded business owners.
The mastermind has also encouraged Chris to raise his ambitions again.
His next target is to reach seven figures, which he hopes the business will be on track to achieve this year. This remains a goal rather than an achieved result.
What This Means for Other Fitness Business Owners
Chris’s experience shows that progress doesn’t necessarily happen through one dramatic change.
His journey has taken seven years, multiple locations and plenty of obstacles.
For Chris, having FBDA there to provide support and guidance along the way has meant he hasn’t had to navigate those challenges completely alone.
